Oct 25th, 2020 Victory Day

Welcome!

Being together during these days with our hearts and minds united with our dear Guru Dev is honorable for us.

We are very happy to be sharing additional discourses, photos, and guidance from our Guru. These can all be found on our new website www.gurudevlegacytrust.com

Here’s a taste of what awaits:

  • The Trust continues to make good progress on the translation of His Vaksudha. ‘Shri Shankaracharya Vaksudha’ is the work to which Maharishi was referring to in 1968 when he said ‘I have written long ago, maybe twenty or thirty years ago, I wrote a book, a small cover, about two hundred pages, and that was in Hindi, account of Guru Dev. But in that description, hear what I said! Not the instances were cited, but the inferences drawn from the instances. Not the instances make history!’.
  • Some more original Hindi literature (e.g. examples of Ashram Newsletters, Kalyana, Shri Jyotishpith Uddharak – life story of Guru Dev, Vacanamrit – 108 discourses).

Guru Dev’s guidance from long ago helps bolster ourselves during these days. His instructions during India’s great famine strikes a chord today and will help any person endure and prosper. Please read it!

Jai Guru Dev,

July 5th, 2020 Guru Purnima

Welcome!

We are happy that you are taking time to read the words of one of the greatest Teachers in many generations.

Guru Dev’s teaching addresses every one of us irrespective of culture, tradition and religion and provides a path to live in happiness and fulfillment. The Guru Dev Legacy Trust was formed to make the simple but profound teaching of Guru Dev available to people everywhere for all time.

Our intent with this new website is to bring out previously unpublished discourses of Guru Dev. We strive to provide authentic translations in English that convey the meaning of the original Hindi as closely and accurately as possible.

We had the great fortune to come in contact with the Shrivastava family of India, whose grandshire, Jugal Kishor Shrivastava, was a direct disciple of Guru Dev. Jugal Kishore was deeply devoted to Guru Dev and collected as much of Guru Dev’s words as he could. We are deeply indebted to the Shrivastava family for sharing the materials collected by Jugal Kishore.

We also owe a debt of gratitude to Paul Mason, who has spent decades collecting, translating and sharing Guru Dev’s message. Paul Mason, too, has freely shared the information and materials he has collected and we are very grateful to him as well.

The Trust, which now includes senior members of the Shrivastava family, has been assembling and translating these works from Hindi. One of the most important is the Shri Shankaracharya Vaksudha, (“The Nectar Words of Shri Shankaracharya”), compiled and edited by his disciple, Shri Mahesh Prasad, later known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Maharishi once referenced this book, wondering aloud what might be done with it. Now, at last, it is being carefully translated to English. The translation of some of the discourses is completed and you can read them here. We will add the others when the translations are completed and will continue to improve all translations with revisions.

You can also look forward to reading some excerpts from Jugal Kishor Shrivastava’s Reminiscences of Guru Dev, a fascinating and touching collection of stories of Jugal’s experiences and interactions with Guru Dev.

Guru Dev’s presence, His words and His image are captured here. We hope that His teaching reaches a wide audience, to the benefit of people everywhere.

Daniel Friedman Chairman
