30. April 2020P 103 105 Right Utilization of Body, Mind and Wealth
Gist of upadesha of a day given by Sri Charan at Prayag:
If man properly understands the use of body, mind and wealth, and uses his body and wealth in worldly activities, and spends his time in meditating on Paramatma with his mind, then he gets progress in this world and in the world after, and so he can make his human life fulfilled.
Actually however the mind is entangled in useless worldly activities. Close friends, wife – son, relatives and so on, everyone only wants fulfillment of their needs. And their needs really can be fulfilled by means of the body and wealth. It is a complete misuse of the mind thinking of them day and night and to stay, only for them, entangled in the embarrassment of worldly activities.
If you tell your beloved ones – wife, son etc. – that you love them much from your heart and always think of them, but you do not fulfill their needs, then they will never be happy and they will not let you live happily. They only want their needs to be fulfilled, they are in no way concerned about your mind.
Actually no one in this world really values your mind, it is we people who forcefully impose it on others.
No one in this world needs your mind, your mind however is best fitted for the path to the other world. On the one hand, no one in this world values mind and on the other hand, if we think thoroughly it will be proven that mind also does not like anything in this world. Nonetheless it moves from one object to the other and yet stays always unsatisfied.
If, in this troublesome world, any object would have been a suitable object of love for it, then it would have definitely experienced permanent happiness and peace after having got it.
However, it is proven from experience that in this world there is no such object which is capable of attracting mind permanently by itself.
Only Paramatma alone is such in which the mind can stay calm.
When mind experiences sat-chit-ananda then it gets absorbed in it for ever, and all its anxieties settle down, and it experiences ultimate happiness and peace.
But until it experiences the darshan of Paramatma or Bhagvan it remains restless. From this reason it is very evident that the real foundation of mind is Paramatma. So keeping mind knowingly and intentionally entangled in worldly activities means making a very restless place for it.
So it is very necessary that you engage body and wealth in worldly activities only with a little cooperation of the mind according the prescriptions of the shastras and engage maximum part of mind in Paramatma. By doing so you will get happiness and peace both in this world and the world after.
Only this is the proper utilization of body, wealth and mind; and by doing so human being makes worldly and heavenly progress, and can finally spend his life in happiness and peace. Having gained freedom from endless sorrows of lifes and deaths, he attains permanent happiness and peace.
It is necessary to get, at all cost, the key to fix the mind to Paramatma; because from several births mind is accustomed to wandering, therefore it doesn’t incline towards Paramatma immediately. It is caused to turn towards Paramatma only by distinctive practices.
A quote from Muktika Upanishad (2:2:43) –
Na shakyate mano jetum bina yuktimaninadataam
(It is not possible to conquer mind with desire without practicing)
Without practice the anxiety of mind cannot be settled. So from a real guru learn this practice. Employ it for the darshan of Paramatma and get permanent happiness and peace by pacifying the distraction of the mind due to endless births. This only is actually the proper usage of mind.
By proper utilization of the mind the proper utilization of body and wealth is carried out accordingly in a natural way. So it is of highest priority to give special attention to the right use of mind.
This alone is the key of accomplishing all-embracing welfare.
