P 108 111 The Divine Fury because of disorder in Temples

(The gist of a one day prescriptive instruction given by Shri Charan at Itawa)

The way the subtle body is the regulator of the gross body of human being, in the same way the subtle divine world is the regulator of the gross world of the whole universe. When the divine power is favourable, man´s power flourishes and when it is unfavourable, the human power is deteriorated. In the human world, to get the compassion of divine power there is a custom in the Aryan texts to offer worship and offerings to the moderators of the divine world – the devas, the saints and the ancestors by which we can get their grace daily.

Divine places like monasteries, temples etc. are the centres to carry out spiritual practices of the subtle world’s principal rulers – gods and goddesses. The way the subtle human body is pleased when the gross body is embellished and decorated, the same way, the hidden divine beings within the visible idols which are established in these temples are pleased by pujas and rituals like shodshopchar² and parshwopchar ³ customs of worship as mentioned in the shastras (holy texts). Moreover, the way the means of pleasure differ according the different nature of various human beings, in the same way there are also different ways of worshipping, adoration and passion and enjoyment for the different various devas to make them happy. By means of the favourable customs mentioned in the shastras corresponding to the nature of the devas when one duly performs puja etc. to their concrete idols then having made the divine world happy he gets endowed with divine power on his own.

³ When we enter inside a temple first we find a big idol of deity in front of us but when we move around the temple then we find small idols of different deities all around the temple, they are known as parshwo devata. The ritual of worshiping these deities first before worshipping the main deity is known as parshwopchar.

Since ancient times, where India upheld cosmic order and life force in every hook and corner, astonishing events indicating divine power could be experienced by the devotees where the centres of divine power were.

The neglecting view of modern educated people regarding these monasteries and temples is an awesome spot on Hinduism and an extremely pitiable state for the whole Hindu nation. If Hindu society wants its good fortune then it must correct this mess.

After the installation (consecration) of these concrete idols of the deities with life force (inside those idols are the receptacles of the subtle divine powers), it is absolutely necessary to make pujas, raag, bhog (the food offered as prasad) according to the rules. When the sevak (priest, servant of puja or upasana) exactly does like this then the devata being pleased grants him the desired fruit. However, if this does not happen, then divine dissatisfaction is inevitable for those neglecting this. Therefore it is necessary for the administrators of these divine places to perform their obligation in this relationship with faith and devotion. If the current administrators of the divine places do not perform their duties properly, then they create the cause of divine dissatisfaction for the country due to their idleness or wrong deeds. If human society wants to enjoy happiness and peace by virtue of divine grace, then it has to take care of the proper administration of those places.

On almost every site the founder of the divine places have gifted some continuing fund towards the management of these sites. This is also the responsibility of the society to keep an eye on whether the amount is being spent in proper way or not. The devas are delighted by these bodies for which especially property will be donated as offerings to the devas that is the right usage. If spent elsewhere, then it is quite natural that neglecting divine donations and being indifferent to divine wishes is the cause of divine dissatisfaction.

It is clear from the Vedas, Shastras etc. and other treatises on dharma (cosmic order) that the devas are happy only by doing japa (repetition of mantras), recitation, parshwopchar, shodshopchar etc. and by the daily puja rites, as well as yajna, mahayajna (sacrifices) etc. and other occasional worship practises.

Therefore it is necessary that the donations offered to the devas should only be used for these kind of actions. Due to the bad influence of time, the worshippers and priests of monasteries and temples don´t have the proper knowledge for the most part of their own subjects and duties and this is also the reason that the scriptures on karmakand (right behaviour) are completely neglected. And so the pujas and other ceremonies for the devas are predominantly not in a perfect state regarding the rules. Hence it is highly essential for getting divine delight that also study centres for worshippers and priests have to be opened.

Only that country which has attained divine power enjoys happiness and peace and can show the path to world peace. For being a country upholding cosmic order and life energy especially India is in this world the primary centre for the incarnation of divine power. If the Indian people by understanding this really very good gain divine shakti due to carrying out worships and ceremonies according to the shastras and receive delight of subtle divine existence then India can get its old glory again.

It (India) is even a manifested divine field vast and ample because of the abundant amount of holy places and even perfect divine sites in this country yet it became disrespected because it got so disorganized.
It is quite natural that a place becomes pure again when the organization is proper. Together with this pureness alone divine compassion will spread and consequently the removal of adharma, the root of all misfortunes, will happen.
And on establishing the foundation of dharma, the root of gaining happiness, divine compassion will increase more and more in this country and permanent happiness and peace will spread. For a society it is necessary being considerate and determined and to be active in this direction.

Whoever will work in this relation our blessings are with him, he will be a recipient of extraordinary grace of the divine world and moreover he will be a partner in the sacred welfare of all living beings.
